May 2001 Pix Theatre Performance
In May 2001, Master Kagami and his troup performed at the Pix Theatre in Lapeer, Michigan. This Daikagura troup performed the traditional "Lion Dance" and other juggling performances.
The Lion Dance (Kotobuki-shishi-mai)
This well-known dance involves a performer dancing while wearing a lion's mask. This dance is common in all areas of Japan, and is considered to have the longest history among Japanese arts still alive today. Photo courtesy of Cindy Green.
